The Bible is really a plural word. It it comes from the Greek- ta biblia, which
means "the books". It is a collection of many books written over hundreds of
years by many writers. The writers were shepherds, kings, farmers, priest, poets, scribes,
prophets, and fishermen. Some of these men were murderers, adulterers, traitors,
embezzlers and a tax collector.
The Bible is both the least understood book in the world and the most popular book in
the world. It has been the best seller since Johannes Gutenberg first printed it with his
printing press 500 years ago. It has been translated into more languages, sold more
copies, and has been read by more people than any other book in history.
The big question about the Bible is:
Is it really the word of God as many claim it to be
or
is it merely a collection of stories and essays that may or may not be
true.
This is for you to decide.
